Itching, irritation, and a burning sensation are clinical manifestations that may occur in conditions of different causes in the vaginal area. They are usually seen in cases of infection of various causes, where they coexist with increased vaginal discharge, with or without odor. The presence of these symptoms without increased discharge may be due to vaginal dryness.
In any case, the proper and safe diagnosis and treatment are carried out only through a gynecologist after a series of diagnostic tests (colposcopy, vaginal fluid culture, etc.), a practice that is recommended to follow every time you notice changes in the wider area.
Vaginal dryness is a result of a lack of the necessary moisture in the vaginal mucosa. The most common causes of it are a decrease in estrogen due to age, breastfeeding, the use of cleansing products that contain strong cleansing or antiseptic agents, smoking, diabetes, etc. Symptoms of vaginal dryness are itching, burning, irritation without the presence of excessive discharge, and difficulty and pain during sexual intercourse.
Vaginal atrophy is a result and continuation of vaginal dryness. The intensity of the symptoms is greater, while the surface of the vaginal epithelium is so fragile that it is easily injured, resulting in bleeding.
Relief from the symptoms of vaginal dryness or atrophy, as well as slowing their progression if the cause is aging, can be achieved by using products that ensure high local levels of moisture. The most popular and very effective ingredient that naturally achieves high levels of moisture and contributes to tissue regeneration and strengthening of healing capacity is hyaluronic acid, which is naturally present in our body. As a hydrophilic substance, it retains a large amount of water, creating a film on the surface of the vaginal mucosa. In this way, it relieves dryness for a long period of time while also acting catalytically in the repair and regeneration of tissues.
Products that exert their action through the use of ingredients that do not have hormonal or pharmacological action can be used for as long as it is feasible and desired, without requiring any interruption or any concern about their safety.
A key factor for maximum effectiveness and satisfaction from the use of products in this category is consistency in regular application according to each product’s instructions for use.
Insufficient lubrication and pain during sexual intercourse are conditions that may be observed in both younger and older women. The causes can be of different nature and are usually related to anxiety during intercourse or the presence of vaginal dryness. Using a lubricant significantly improves the problem. However, it is important to use lubricants that resemble the composition of normal vaginal secretions as closely as possible so they do not disrupt the natural balance of the area. For this reason, their composition should be water-based and not based on petroleum derivatives such as petroleum jelly and paraffin oil, and they should not contain artificial colors, fragrances, or preservatives.
Hot flashes are a sudden feeling of rising body temperature that is mainly associated with menopause and mostly affects women.
During menopause, hot flashes are usually more intense in the face, neck, and chest and can cause skin redness. They may be accompanied by increased heart rate and heavy sweating followed by a feeling of cold. Their frequency varies from person to person, but they generally last a few minutes and occur mostly at night. The exact cause remains unclear, but it is believed to be the result of hormonal changes characteristic of menopause and increased sensitivity of the body’s temperature-control system, which becomes more sensitive to small changes.
However, in both women and men, the problem can also be associated with actual illnesses, such as hyperthyroidism, prostate cancer, or diseases related to the hypothalamus or pituitary gland. Hot flashes can also be caused by cancer treatments.
The reduction of hot flashes as well as night sweats can be achieved with the use of dietary supplements based on plant-derived ingredients that contain phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogens effectively and safely mimic the beneficial action of estrogens without causing unwanted side effects, as they do not have estrogenic action.
It can be used continuously for as long as desired.
